Tom Durnie
COach
Tom is a coach whose goal is to help facilitate the development of each student athlete he works with both on and off of the ice. Tom focuses on the development of character through positive teaching practices. He believes this is the best way to maximize potential with those he works with.

Tom was born in Drumheller, Alberta but grew up in Calgary and played for the SW Royals before spending 2 years in the AJHL with the Canmore Eagles. In 2005, Tom was named AA Council Defenseman of the Year. After this Junior career Tom accepted a scholarship to attend the University of Alabama-Huntsville, a Division 1 NCAA program. While he was playing for the Chargers, his team qualified for the Frozen Four Regionals in 2010, and he was awarded the Scholastic Athlete of the Year in 2012.
Tom is multi talented as he was trained as a classical singer for most of his childhood and won a provincial championship at the age of 11.
Tom is an integral part of the Village Sports and STIX hockey team, and harnesses the opportunity to pass on his philosophy to athletes that everyone has untapped potential and he enjoys the change to help student-athletes discover and strive of theirs. Tom currently lives in Calgary with his wife Ashley and their three children, Noah, Vada and Mave.
